THE WORKPLACE Discussion
On the 25th of April Africa Matters hosted a free event in Parktown, Johannesburg. We invited 4 young womxn professionals to lead a discussion on the challenges faced by young womxn in the workplace and their experiences as managers.
Africa Matters hosted a free Millennials in the Workplace discussion led by Millennial African womxn who are either employees or managers in their respective working environments
aURUM uNLOCKd INITIATIVE sessions
In January Africa Matters assisted The Aurum Institute and UnlockD facilitate a 1-year learnership programme that aims to leverage youth unemployment in efforts to decrease the spread of HIV and TB in South Africa.
From our stand on Activism Row - an interactive installation featuring grassroot and non-profit organizations - we engaged AFROPUNK festival goers on their knowledge and perception of the continent.
aFRICAN yOUTH NETWORKS SUMMIT
In July 2018 Farai represented the Africa Matters Initiative at the
inaugural African Youth Networks Summit.
The summit was held at Freedom Park in Pretoria, South Africa. Farai spoke on a panel
on the theme, ‘Creating African Narratives using Traditional and Digital Media.’
In August 2018 We were joined by 90 of Johannesburg's young professionals for an evening dedicated to exploring partnerships for impact.
Guest-speakers included award-winning journalist Ancillar Mangena and start-up entrepreneurs Karidas Tshintsholo and Matthew Piper.
In May 2018 Africa Matters celebrated Africa Day by hosting the Africa Day Networking Evening in partnership with 22seven: Online Money Manager and Africa Matters partner.
Aphiwe Dlamini, Chairperson of the Inaugural Deloitte Millennial Advisory Board and a business adviser at Deloitte Consulting, was guest speaker.
